Finding the right training for you.

Essentially, all the various forms of Reiki are all based on the same Universal Life Force energy – Reiki is Reiki is Reiki. The practice of Reiki originated and was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui.  Hawayo Takata introduced Reiki to the USA and initiated 22 Masters. All Western Reiki practitioners have a lineage going back through Takata.  This is the traditional system and is known as Usui Reiki.

Over the years, some Reiki masters incorporated other philosophies into their Reiki training and created other forms of Reiki. Different methods and symbols have been developed and used for each type, although the principle behind them remains the same. Some of the most commonly used types of Reiki include:

So in a nutshell there are many types of ways of working with the Universal life force as a channel for the energy but no right or wrong Reiki, it all comes from the same Divine place. The most popular system is still Usui Reiki but it may be that you are drawn to working with a particular philosophy or Archetype. If for example you are drawn to working with Egyptian energy systems and the powerful Temples, grids and symbols of this great lineage this may bring you ancient connections to the Gods & Goddesses over thousands of years. Sekhem has a very strong connection to Egypt, yet it goes far beyond that connection. Keep in mind we are all eternal beings, we have not just past lives on this planet, but universal connections with this dimension and other dimensions. Every person will experience what they need to learn at the right time and each person and journey is unique. I know that I’m currently interested in learning Sekhem because I’m writing about it. You have landed on this page because you are possibly drawn to working with the Angelic Kingdom of Light whenever the time is right. Always remember there are no rights or wrong Reiki, it is what is right FOR YOU at this time.

I am trained in and have taught Usui Reiki and am eternally grateful to my teacher and the Universal Life Force for what was a life changing experience for me. However I am also trained and now currently teach Angelic Ascension Reiki because this is what I need to learn for this time in my life, particularly as I am working with the Angelic frequencies and Ascension process. Angelic Ascension Reiki is a beautiful and profound experience – the attunements take up most of the training and are moving and beautiful. They are received in 3 parts, cleansing, attuning to the Angelic frequency and finished with a powerful Ascension Mediation. The main difference between Usui and Angelic Ascension Reiki is that the attunements are passed in a meditation where the teacher simply holds the space for the Angelic Kingdom to bring in symbols and initiate you into the energy. Angels embody the Divine, and when the highest vibration of Divine Love is anchored into your own consciousness by a stream of soul energy, you have the power to change your reality.  If you wish to re-awaken your divine awareness, if you would like to change your life and become whole and healthy, embracing true joy, perhaps you will be drawn to Angelic Reiki.

I found that once I had been attuned, the barriers I built started to fall away to reveal multi dimensional possibilities. Colours became sharp and frequent, and an inner vision of wings became regular consequences of working with the Angels.

To quote Kevin Core (the founder of Angelic Reiki)  “Angelic Reiki shares the characteristics of traditional Reiki in as much as it is a hands-on practice with the option of self-healing and distance treatments. Although it uses symbols common to other Reiki systems, the healing power of the Angelic Vibration sets it apart. This Divine Vibration attunes both the healer and client to their Soul energy, raising consciousness and re-awakening an awareness of what it is to be a divine being, whole and healthy and living in joy.”

How to go about finding the right teacher and training.

Firstly decide which type of Reiki you are drawn to, use your intuition, your heart and listen to your calling.

  • Do the initial research and check out information on different Reiki course offerings in your area.
  • Get to know some Reiki teachers. Often Reiki Masters also host Reiki shares that are open to practitioners and non-practitioners. This is a good way of getting to know the teacher as well as a way to ask questions that you may have about taking a Reiki class. Reiki involves continuous practice. Taking a class is just the beginning and it is important to have a good working relationship with your teacher for support after the class.
  • Ask other Reiki practitioners for recommendations. Again, Reiki shares provide a good forum for this.

Other factors to consider are the cost, location, dates and times of the classes, and how much support is available to you after the class has ended. When choosing the right Reiki class for you, figure out which type of Reiki resonates with you. Then choose a teacher that you feel comfortable with.

Always trust your intuition, which is your inner compass and do what feel right to you. When the student is ready, the teacher appears. Trust that the Universe brings to you what you need at the right and divine timing.

Keep an eye on my website and facebook for Reiki shares and training and please ask if you would like to come along and see what it’s all about and meet new friends! I can guarantee you a cup of tea and a friendly welcome. Once you have made your connection with the Angels it can be a profound and inspiring but humbling experience.
